Today's
Readings
Acts
3:11-26 The
people ran to Peter and John in amazement after the lame man was healed. Peter
addressed them directly, “Why are you surprised? It is not our power that did
this. The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob glorified His
servant Jesus, whom you handed over and denied. But God raised Him from the dead, and we are witnesses.
Luke
24:35-48 The
disciples told the others what happened on the road to Emmaus. While they were
speaking, Jesus appeared in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.” They were
startled and terrified, thinking they saw a ghost. He showed them His hands and
feet. He opened their minds to understand the Scripture and told them; you are
witnesses of these things.
Today's
Thread: You are a witness.
Peter said it to
the crowd, and Jesus said it to the disciples. Two different scriptures with
the same declaration. You were not meant to keep this to yourself. The
Resurrection is not a private spiritual experience to be tucked away quietly in
your soul. It is news, the Good News that needs to be shared. And witnesses
share what they have seen.
Living
It Today:
You don't have to
heal anyone or preach to a crowd today. But you are still a witness. Every
Rosary you pray. Every act of patience. Every time you choose faith over fear,
that is your witness. Your ordinary Thursday is somebody else's Emmaus road.
You might be the stranger walking beside them today without even knowing it.
Something
to sit with today:
Who
in your life right now is walking their own Emmaus road, discouraged, confused,
slowly losing hope? Could you be the presence of Christ for them today?
Carry
that thought beyond this moment. In your very next conversation, be the one who
brings light, who speaks words that lift rather than weigh down. And beyond
that, be the one who gently brings Jesus into the dialogue; however, the Holy
Spirit leads.
Before
you enter that conversation, pause. Ask the Lord to guide your words before the
first word is even spoken.
