Opening Prayer: Blessed Mother Mary, Queen of Heaven and our loving advocate, we turn to
you throughout this sacred month of November with hearts full of gratitude for
your countless apparitions and intercessions throughout history. Guide us as we
reflect upon the many ways you have revealed God's mercy to your children
across the world and help us to grow closer to your Son through your maternal
care. Amen.
- Our
Lady of the Palm, Cadiz, Spain (1755) -
Under this title, Mary is venerated as protector against natural
disasters, particularly the devastating earthquake that struck Lisbon in
1755. The faithful seek her intercession for safety and deliverance from
calamity.
- Our
Lady of Emminont, Abbeville, France - This
devotion honors Mary's maternal presence in the daily lives of the
faithful in northern France. She is invoked as a source of comfort and
spiritual guidance for families.
- Our
Lady of Rennes, Brittany, France - The Blessed Mother is
honored in this historic Breton city as a beacon of faith and hope. Her
shrine has drawn pilgrims seeking healing and spiritual renewal for
generations.
- Our
Lady of Port Louis, Milan, Italy - Mary is venerated under this
title as protector of travelers and those who journey by sea. She watches
over all who call upon her name in times of danger.
- Our
Lady of Damietta, Egypt (1220) - This devotion commemorates
Mary's protection during the Crusades and her role as bridge between
cultures. She reminds us that God's love transcends all boundaries and
divisions.
- Our
Lady of Good Remedies, Mexico (1519) -
Known as "La Conquistadora," Mary came to the New World as a
source of healing and reconciliation. She offers remedies for both
physical ailments and spiritual wounds.
- Our
Lady of the Pond, Dijon, France (1531) -
According to tradition, a miraculous image of Mary appeared in a pond,
bringing healing waters to the sick. She continues to be invoked for
physical and spiritual cleansing.
- Our
Lady of Belle Fontaine, La Rochelle - The
"Beautiful Fountain" represents Mary as the wellspring of grace
and mercy. From her flows the living water that quenches our spiritual
thirst.
- Our
Lady of Almudena, Madrid, Spain - Patroness of Madrid, Mary is
honored as protector of the city and its people. Her hidden image,
discovered after centuries, reminds us that faith endures through all
trials.
- Our
Lady of Last Agony / Miraculous Cure through the intercession of Our Lady
of Loreto (1552) - This powerful devotion
commemorates Mary's presence at the foot of the Cross, sharing in Christ's
final agony, and her continued intercession for those suffering their last
moments. Through her prayers to Our Lady of Loreto, a miraculous healing
occurred in 1552, demonstrating that Mary's compassion extends especially
to those in their greatest need and deepest suffering. She who stood vigil
at Calvary now stands vigil beside every deathbed, offering comfort to the
dying and hope to those who mourn, while her intercessions continue to
bring physical healing and spiritual grace to the afflicted.
- Our
Lady of the Portuguese (1546) - Mary is honored as special
patroness of the Portuguese people and their missionaries. She accompanied
explorers and evangelizers to the ends of the earth.
- Our
Lady of the Tower Secret, Turin, Italy (1863)
- This mysterious title refers to a hidden devotion that brought great
graces to those who discovered it. Mary reveals herself to humble hearts
seeking her presence.
- Our
Lady of Nanteuil, France (1st Century) - One
of the most ancient Marian shrines in France, this devotion connects us to
the earliest Christian communities. Mary's protection has been sought here
since apostolic times.
- Our
Lady of the Grotto, Lamego, Portugal - In
the quiet of a cave sanctuary, Mary draws souls into contemplation and
prayer. She invites us to seek solitude with her and her Divine Son,
preparing our hearts for the deeper devotions to come, particularly
anticipating the profound graces of the Miraculous Medal just days ahead.
- Our
Lady of Pignerol, Savoy, France (1098) -
Medieval pilgrims flocked to this shrine seeking Mary's intercession in
times of plague and warfare. Her maternal care brings peace amid chaos.
- Our
Lady of Chieves, Hainault, Belgium (1130)
- This ancient devotion honors Mary as healer and comforter of the sick.
Countless miracles have been attributed to her loving intercession.
- Our
Lady of Sion (Queen of the Jews) (1393) - Mary
is honored as the Jewish daughter of Israel who became Mother of the
Church. She reminds us of our spiritual roots and God's eternal covenant.
- The
Rosary Virgin of Chiquinquira, Columbia (1555)
- A faded image of Mary miraculously restored itself, bringing renewed
faith to a struggling community. She teaches us that God can restore what
seems beyond repair.
- Our
Lady of Good News or Glad Tidings - Mary is the first bearer of
the Gospel, carrying Christ to Elizabeth and to the world. She continues
to bring the joyful message of salvation to all who open their hearts,
announcing God's mercy and inviting us to receive His grace. Through her
intercession, we are prepared to recognize and celebrate God's good news
in our own lives, especially as we approach the great feast of her
Presentation in the Temple.
- Our
Lady of La Guarde, Bologna, Italy (433) - As
our guardian and protector, Mary watches over us with unwavering maternal
vigilance. She stands as a sentinel against all spiritual dangers.
- Presentation
of the Blessed Virgin Mary (12 BC) - This
solemn feast commemorates the day when Mary, as a young child of
approximately three years old, was brought by her parents, Saints Joachim
and Anne, to the Temple in Jerusalem, where she was consecrated to God's
service. According to sacred tradition, Mary climbed the fifteen steps of
the Temple without assistance, demonstrating even at this tender age her
eager desire to belong entirely to God. In the Temple, she lived a life of
prayer, contemplation, and service, preparing her Immaculate Heart to become
the dwelling place of the Word Made Flesh. This complete self-offering of
Mary, giving her whole life to God before she could even understand the
magnitude of her mission, serves as the ultimate model of total surrender
and trust for all believers. Her presentation foreshadows her later
presentation of Jesus in this same Temple and reminds us that we too are
called to present ourselves as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to
God.
- Our
Lady of Lavang, Viet Nam (1798) - During violent persecution,
Mary appeared to hiding Catholics, bringing comfort and healing. She
remains patroness of Vietnamese Catholics and all who suffer for their
faith.
- Our
Lady of the Vault, Italy - Hidden in a sacred vault,
Mary's image represents the treasures of faith preserved through difficult
times. She protects the Church's sacred mysteries.
- Our
Lady of Montserrat, Spain (1535) - The "Black
Madonna" of the serrated mountain has drawn pilgrims for centuries.
She reminds us that Mary's beauty transcends earthly appearances.
- Our
Lady of the Rock of Fiesola, Tuscany, Italy (1028)
- Mary appeared on a rock, establishing a place of pilgrimage and prayer.
She is our solid foundation, the rock upon which we can build our
spiritual lives.
- Our
Lady of the Mountains, Italy (1500) - From
her mountain shrine, Mary overlooks the valleys where her children dwell.
She lifts our eyes to heaven while remaining close to our earthly
struggles.
- Our
Lady of the Miraculous Medal (1830) - In a
profound series of apparitions to Saint Catherine Labouré, Mary revealed
the Miraculous Medal, promising extraordinary graces to those who wear it
with faith. The medal's design, showing Mary with rays of light streaming
from her hands, standing upon the serpent, surrounded by the invocation
"O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to
thee", has become one of the most powerful sacramentals in the
Church. Millions have experienced conversions, healings, and protection
through this simple medal, which Mary herself designed as a channel of
grace for a world in need. Those who wear it with devotion and trust in
Mary's intercession receive a special outpouring of her maternal love and
protection.
- Our
Lady of Walsingham, England (1061) -
England's Nazareth, this shrine represents Mary's desire to dwell among
her children. She invites us to make our hearts a home for Jesus.
- Apparition
of Our Lady of Beauraing, Belgium (1932) - Mary
appeared to children as the "Immaculate Virgin" with a heart of
gold, calling for prayer and conversion. Her message of love continues to
transform hearts.
- Our
Lady of Genesta, Genoa, Italy - As the month closes, Mary is
honored in this maritime city as Star of the Sea. She guides us safely
through life's storms to the harbor of eternal salvation.
Closing Prayer: Holy Mary, Mother of God and Mother of Mercy, we thank you for your
faithful presence throughout the centuries and across every continent. As we
conclude this month dedicated to remembering your many interventions in human
history, we ask that you continue to intercede for us before your Son. Wrap us
in your mantle of protection, guide us with your wisdom, and lead us ever
closer to Jesus. May we always have recourse to your Immaculate Heart, knowing
that you never cease to care for your children. Through your prayers, may we
grow in holiness and one day join you in the eternal joy of heaven. Amen.
