Whoever Hears You, Hears Me

Reflection on Luke 10:13-16

You know what really moves me about today's gospel? Jesus is revealing just how incredible the gift is that we've received! Chorazin and Bethsaida had front-row seats to the Kingdom of God breaking into history; they witnessed miracles, heard the Gospel preached, and saw grace made visible right before their eyes. The Church beautifully teaches that to whom much is given, much is required, and wow, have we been given everything! We have access to treasures that even faithful people in ancient times could only dream about.

What I really love is how Jesus connects his disciples directly to himself and to the Father. This is the beautiful foundation of apostolic succession! When the seventy-two went out, they carried Jesus Christ's own authority with them. This is why the Church's teaching authority is such a gift, we're directly connected to Jesus himself through those he sends. It's this amazing unbroken chain: Father, Son, and the Church he established, all working together for our good.

Today’s gospel reminds us that we'll be judged according to the light we've received, which is wonderful news! God's justice is perfect; he meets each person exactly where they are. And for those of us who have received the sacraments, who have access to the Eucharist and the fullness of revealed truth, we've been entrusted with extraordinary treasures. What an honor! What a calling!

Here's what fills me with Joy, about these verses: I have the Mass, Confession, the Rosary, Eucharistic Adoration, and the whole treasury of Catholic tradition at my fingertips! These aren't just religious practices; they're living encounters with Christ himself. Jesus' words invite us to fully embrace and appreciate these incredible gifts while we have them. His warning is actually an invitation, a grace that wakes us up to respond with joy and gratitude.

So the question becomes beautifully personal: What am I doing right now to truly enjoy and savor these incredible treasures God has placed in my life? This is our moment, right now, to enrich our personal spiritual journey and dive headfirst into the beauty of our faith! Don't let the noise and busyness of the world distract you from what truly matters. Now is not the time to drift away from Jesus; now is the time to run toward him with all your heart! Life is such a gift, but it moves fast, and before we know it, we'll be looking back on these days. Let's make sure we fill them with what counts! Imagine the joy of knowing you gave your time, your energy, your treasure, your love to the Lord while you had the chance. These treasures, the Mass, the sacraments, prayer, his real presence, they're waiting for us right now, today! So, let's grab hold of them with both hands, let's pursue Jesus with passion and excitement, and let's make our relationship with him the most thrilling, fulfilling adventure of our entire lives!
