Prayer to:
Our Lady
of Seven Sorrows

Opening Prayer

Most Holy Mother of God, your heart was pierced with seven swords of sorrow as you walked beside your Son. In each trial, you showed us perfect faith and love. Through your tears, you became our Mother of Mercy.

The Seven Sorrows

First Sorrow - The Prophecy of Simeon
Blessed Mother, when holy Simeon told you a sword would pierce your soul, you accepted God's will with courage. Your heart already knew the price of our salvation. Help us trust in God's plan even when we cannot understand His ways.

Second Sorrow - The Flight into Egypt
Our Lady, you fled with Joseph and the infant Jesus to protect Him from Herod's rage. In exile and uncertainty, you never lost hope. When we face danger or must leave what we know, be our guide and our strength.

Third Sorrow - The Loss of Jesus in the Temple
Mother Most Sorrowful, for three days you searched for your beloved Son with an anguished heart. Your joy at finding Him was mixed with the knowledge that He belonged first to His Father. Help us seek Jesus always, especially when He seems far away.

Fourth Sorrow - Meeting Jesus on the Way to Calvary
Compassionate Mother, seeing your Son carrying His cross broke your heart anew. You could not take away His suffering, but you walked with Him in love. Teach us to accompany those who suffer and to carry our own crosses with grace.

Fifth Sorrow - Standing at the Foot of the Cross
Mother of Sorrows, you stood bravely beneath the cross as Jesus gave His life for us. In your greatest agony, you became mother to all humanity. Help us stay close to Jesus in His passion and find hope in His sacrifice.

Sixth Sorrow - Receiving Jesus in Your Arms
Our Lady of Mercy, you held your Son's lifeless body with infinite tenderness. Your mother's heart was shattered, yet you trusted in God's greater plan. Comfort us in our losses and help us believe in the promise of resurrection.

Seventh Sorrow - The Burial of Jesus
Queen of Martyrs, you laid Jesus in the tomb and walked away in faith, knowing death could not hold Him. Your sorrow became the gateway to our joy. In our darkest hours, remind us that God can bring life from death.

Closing Prayer

Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Seven Sorrows, pray for us as we turn to you in our trials. Help us unite our sufferings with yours and with Jesus Christ's passion, that we may find strength, hope, and eternal joy.

In Jesus' Name.. Amen.
